Winter 2010
Happy New Year!
At the church I attended yesterday the pastor encouraged us that instead of being overwhelmed by a New Decade, a New Year and trying to figure out what God has in store, to live each day with the perspective of God’s heart. Grab the day and each moment with the realization that we don’t have to strive to receive God’s promises as we already have them. As a senior friend of mine verbalized a short while ago, when God gave the promise to Abraham that he would have a son and that the world would be blessed through him, even though the actuality of it was a long time coming in God’s eyes it was a done deal. What promises has God given you? Stand on them. No matter what happens this year or this decade, God is God and doesn’t change.
So this is just a short note to let you know what‘s new and to keep you up to date.
Over the last several years, much of our work in Rwanda has been accomplished in partnership with Africa Mission Alliance, an organization begun by some of our friends there. In November of 2007, we applied to incorporate AMA as a Canadian non-profit in order to facilitate the plans we had for the next several years. We received non-profit status this past summer (finally!) and this fall we began the process of organizing the administration of AMA Canada. This does not mean we are no longer working for YWAM. It means that our YWAM work has drawn us into a new kind of partnership. We are currently in the process of transferring the child sponsorship accounts to our Canadian office so that the sponsors can receive a tax receipt for
their donations. Plans for the Asante Children's Choir tour have been temporarily delayed due to visa restrictions, but we are still hoping to bring them to Canada in the next year or so. Pray for us as we attack the huge task of organizing the banking and administration. Thank God for a professional accountant who has volunteered her time to help us. Pray that the doors will open for us to bring the children’s choir to Canada.
Doug has also been continuing to teach ESL to a group of refugee children from City Church in Winnipeg, as a part of an ESL video project for kids that he is compiling that will be a great tool for use in missions. (City Church is a church for refugee people, mostly Karen, Chin, Burundian and Congolese). The first 30 ESL video lessons are complete and available. Contact us if you are interested. He along with some people from our local church are also giving worship seminars on Saturday afternoon once a month at City church to help equip some young people.
We are adding a new member to our local YWAM board. Michayla Coad. She was one of the Daniel Prayer group members and has just turned 13. As we looked at the board we realized that we talk about raising up the next generation and mentoring them and yet we didn’t have a younger member on the board, where plans are discerned and birthed. Michayla has shown a lot of sensitivity and initiative. In the fall she did a speech at the local public junior high on the persecuted church, and for her birthday in lieu of presents she asked people to make contributions to a homeless shelter she had visited the year before with the Daniel Prayer group. Please pray for her as she joins us that the Lord will pour on her an even greater measure of wisdom and understanding.
As we meet as a board this month pray that the Lord will direct us how to walk out daily from His heart perspective what He has in mind, and that we will hear.
The Lord is good to those whose hope is in Him. to the one who seeks him. It is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord Lamentations 3: 25

Prayer and Praise:
- We would like to praise the Lord and thank Him for the many opportunities that He gave us over the summer and the projects ahead.
- For Doug as he writes and videos the ESL project for kids. Pray especially for the distribution of the first block of lessons which have already been produced.
- For administrative assistance as we continue our work in Rwanda.
- Continued health and strength for Carolin as she recovers.
Passionately yours for the Kingdom.
